Meet the D.I. Weilerts!

Hello, everyone!

Welcome to our blog! I wanted to take a moment and introduce ourselves and explain why we started this blog.

I am Macklyn Weilert and my husband is Josh Weilert.

We have two dogs: a 12 year old Schnoodle named Mimzy and a 1 year old Double Doodle named Ella.
Ella, our Double Doodle

Mimzy, our Schnoodle

Since meeting Josh, he has pushed me to become more creative and to try new things. One of those things has become our latest passions, DIYs. Our DIY obsession started when we were planning our wedding. We made 90% of our wedding decor items ourselves and enjoyed every minute of it. During this process, our inside joke became he was the Chip to my Joanna. (Fixer Upper, anyone?) I would come up with the designs and he would implement it.

I designed it and Josh implemented.
Like I said, the Chip to my Joanna.

Josh created this sign!
He even got Mimzy's real paw print
at the bottom. This was before we got Ella.

The first book series we read together was The Hunger Games.
We included quotes from the books as a part of our center pieces.
I used the cricut to do the writing on the pieces.

I created this sign with a collage of the pictures of us.

After our wedding, we moved into a new house and had to create a little potty pad for Mimzy and Ella. That was our next DIY.

Being in a new home, we enjoy making and creating new decor for each season. We have enjoyed creating new items and Josh has pushed me a lot in trying new things. This included learning how to implement my own design using the Cricut.

Before

After: We added white to give it a farmhouse look.

I created this frame with some ornaments.
The frame is from a canvas!

Our Christmas center piece

A snowman wreath I made with all Dollar Tree items.
Dollar Tree DIYs was our obsession during Christmas.

My first solo project on the Cricut
This was Josh's Christmas present.
Ella is all about the DIYs and loves
photobombing pictures of projects.

I finger knitted this blanket for our bed.
I also made the small pillows out of place mats.
The long pillow behind the small pillow is made
out of a scarf.

For Christmas this year, he gave me a sewing machine.

The new sewing machine in my new craft corner!

The first attempt at making a bandana for Ella included a lot of tears and frustration. When I gave Ella the end result, her reaction was worth it and gave me more confidence in keep learning new things on the sewing machine.

There was a lot of tail wagging and kisses!
Throughout all these DIYs, we began calling ourselves the D.I. Weilerts. Josh loves a good play on words. We hope you enjoy following our DIY journey!
